Aerodrome Procedures

Newcastle Aerodrome has strict arrival/departure procedures as follows:

  • All arriving/departing aircraft must self-announce their intentions on 122.550 (Newcastle Radio)
  • PPR is required for arriving aircraft - John Nugent | +353 (86) 2394417
  • All circuits are to the East of the aerodrome
  • Aircraft parking is at the end of the taxiway beside the hangars. Please park on the edge of the taxiway and not in the middle as not to cause disruption to departing/arriving traffic using the taxiway.

North Arrivals
Aircraft arriving from the North are requested to track the N11 motorway from Bray as far as Druids Glen Golf Course. On reaching Druids Glen, aircraft must track directly to the airfield (South East from Druids Glen) to join overhead the airfield not below 1500ft. Once overhead, aircraft can then join the appropriate downwind for the active runway. Avoid overflying Newcastle village at all times (directly west of the airfield).
West Arrivals
Aircraft arriving from the West are requested to route directly to Druids Glen Golf Course. On reaching Druids Glen, aircraft must track directly to the airfield (South East from Druids Glen) to join overhead the airfield not below 1500ft. Once overhead, aircraft can then join the appropriate downwind for the active runway. Avoid overflying Newcastle village at all times (directly west of the airfield).
East Arrivals
Aircraft arriving from the East can directly join the downwind for the appropriate runway. Aircraft from the East should use caution when joining the circuit and listen out for any other traffic.
South Arrivals
Aircraft arriving from the South are requested to route to Wicklow town and follow the N11 northbound. The first reporting point is the service station on the N11 at Coynes Cross. Aircraft must then follow the N11 as far as Druids Glen Golf Course. On reaching Druids Glen, aircraft must track directly to the airfield (South East from Druids Glen) to join overhead the airfield not below 1500ft. Once overhead, aircraft can then join the appropriate downwind for the active runway. Avoid overflying Newcastle village at all times (directly west of the airfield).
Arriving Aircraft
PPR must be obtained from the Aerodrome for all arriving flights into Newcastle.
International arrivals must comply with the following procedures when arriving into Ireland to comply with Revenue and Customs.

Documents required for all incoming flights from OUTSIDE the state are listed below:

  • Completed GAR - 24 hrs prior to departure for IRL/UK passport holders (including crew).
  • Completed GAR & Passport Copies 24 hrs prior to departure for all EU passport holders (including crew).
  • Completed GAR & Passport Copies 48 hrs prior to departure for all Non-EU passport holders (including crew) also to include (1) address while in Ireland (2) the duration of the stay and (3) the purpose of the visit.
